Latest NewsRobin Hood Press Release For Immediate Release: MONTY PYTHON MEETS BROADWAY in Ross Petty's 14 Annual Fractured Fairy Tale ROBIN HOOD The Environmental Family Musical Borrowing a page from Robin Hood's notebook, Ross Petty Productions is taking from the riches of Canada's talent pool, and offering it to the poor . . . those downtrodden citizens of the great province of Ontario looking for a welcome escape from the harsh economic realities of 2009. Relief is on the way, in the form of Merry Men and mirth! ROBIN HOOD, The EnvironMENTAL Family Musical, Ross Petty Productions' 14th annual fun-fest, steals its way into the beautiful Elgin Theatre, November 26, 2009 - January 3, 2010. The Prince of Thieves must win over Maid Marion while continuing to elude the Sheriff of Nottingham, CEO of Nottingham Lumber, who is about to raze Sherwood Forest in order to keep his company the leader in its field . . . maker of toothpicks, bathroom tissue and catapults since 1732. Robin Hood's chivalrous eco-warrior will be played by Jeff Irving, the charismatic Rolf in the Mirvish production of The Sound of Music, who plucks the heart strings of every woman he encounters, most particularly one Maid Marion, played by Canadian Idol winner, Eva Avila, who will be making her live theatre debut after having opened several concert dates for superstar Beyoncé. Famous for her uncanny impressions of Celine Dion and Liza Minnelli (and rejuvenating the ranks of Royal Canadian Air Farce on CBC television for the last 5 years), Jessica Holmes will bring her own unique spin to the Good Fairy of Sherwood Forest. Merry man Alain de Champagne, played by Yvan Pedneault, the super-charged Galileo in the long-running hit We Will Rock You, gives ROBIN HOOD its rock and roll edge. After ditching her scheming mother and sister (Bertha and Carnivia von Botox), in Cinderella's pumpkin patch, Plumbum von Botox graduated from Nottingham Nursing College, signed on with Workopolis and became Maid Marion's guardian. Dan Chameroy returns as the fun-loving-man-crazy Plumbum von Botox, RN. An actor who has never met a wig he couldn't build a character around, producer and perennial bad guy Ross Petty plays the immaculately coiffed, yet entirely evil, Sheriff of Nottingham. Whatever happens to all those kids who are burning with ambition to become the next Renee Fleming, the next Yo Yo Ma, or the next Oscar Peterson only to find that, for one reason or another, they are not quite going to make it? Having seen 2 Pianos, 4 Hands three times across the years (that’d be six pianos, 12 hands), I have to report that it seems better, and even fresher, than ever. Created and performed by Richard Greenblatt and Ted Dykstra, Two Pianos, Four Hands follows the careers of two budding pianists from early music lessons through music festivals and conservatory auditions. TORONTO - Were it not for a bit of divine intervention, this is a show that could just as easily be called 2 Sticks 4 Skates, 2 Feet 4 Pointe Shoes or even 2 Snowboards 4 Feet. There are some shows you can see over and over again. They are like the welcome return of an old friend. Such is 2 Pianos 4 Hands. Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt won’t be closing the keyboards on those pianos just yet. October 29, 2011 - December 4, 2011.
